After thinking about this for some time now, I have decided to take the plunge and write. What I'm going to write about.. well.. I'm not too sure, but I assure you it won't be too long, just a few thoughts.
Why? Because as a mum of 2 small children I'm always doing a million things at once. Responding to emails, making my boys lunch, designing an album then helping with homework, editing, doing the laundry.. haha.. as a working mother I'm sure others can agree, any form of work on top of raising children is difficult. Even more so when your office is within the home they terrorise.
But as a professional I always get the job done. Countless hours are spent on making every form of business just the way I want it. Each image I give to a client has been critically analysed and edited, until I think its perfect. Each album is designed from scratch, personalised just for that client. The packaging and marketing materials are all designed by myself, to include my own personal touches.
I pour my heart and soul into my work, as I do my family. Box standard is just not good enough.
At the moment I work 2 full days a week and the other 5 days while my eldest son is at school and the little one takes his nap. And to be honest again after they are in bed. The in-between times I'm playing mum, care taker, cleaner, cook, teacher, and the endless list goes on..
Photography is a large part of my life, yet I find that I'm so busy capturing other peoples memories that quite often I don't capture my own. Our children grow so quickly, moments are gone with only our memories to serve as a reminder. Photos let us relive that memory and send us time travelling with a smile, seeing our babies as babies! Reliving that precious moment of 'I do', seeing the little details in the images that our memories have long forgotten. Once these moments pass, they are gone, we cannot retrieve them.. but we can save them! That is why I love what I do.
In amongst the craziness of the lives we lead, working, child raising, problem solving.. We have times that make life really worth living! The joy and happiness we feel should not be forgotten. Its capturing those moments that is so important to reflect upon when the memories have faded.
So this will be my (some what late) new years resolution, start to take more photos of my own children, saving my own memories. There is nothing more important in life than love and happiness, that is what I capture, that is what Tutta Bella is all about.
Tutta Bella means 'very beautiful' in Italian. I can hear "are you italian?" haha, no I am not. But I did live there for a time with my family when I started my photography business.
So with the beginning of 2014, I go into the new year full of life, inspiration, passion, and love, with a vow to make more memories with my loved ones.
I hope you will do the same, whether it be a professional photographer or a snap shot camera, take those photos, make those memories last forever.
